Santo Domingo de Guzmán: Sonsonate

This western destination will captivate you with its rich indigenous history and the enormous El Escuco Waterfall.

A short hike of approximately half a kilometer through lush, vibrant foliage leads to a spectacular 80-meter waterfall. Feeling the refreshing spray on your face is wonderful, but taking a dip in the pool that ranges from 1 to 5 meters deep is even better.

Thrill-seekers and extreme sports enthusiasts can safely rappel here. This spot will take your breath away! The demanding climb through cascading ribbons of water brings you up through enormous boulders, slippery terrain, and dense vegetation.

This area is home to native speakers of the Nahuat language. Hearing this language spoken will take you back in time. The Nahuat language has been passed down from generation to generation, and there are growing efforts to teach it in schools. In Nahuat, El Escuco means "Falling Water."

This area is famous for its pottery, including clay grills, plates, and handmade crafts shaped and fired from local red clay. Be sure to bring home some of these beautiful dishes and handcrafted pieces to remember your visit.

Santo Domingo de Guzmán is a unique and interesting destination where culture, tradition, and nature await.
