San Salvador y La Libertad
El Boquerón provides a remarkable natural oasis above El Salvador's largest city, located at the top of the San Salvador Volcano.
Active visitors will enjoy hiking the park's trails, while less adventurous visitors will still enjoy the gastronomy and sense of tranquility in the area, whether for a daytime visit or an evening adventure.
El Boquerón National Park sits in the crater of the San Salvador Volcano as a natural protected area with diverse flora and fauna.
Well-marked trails guide visitors on a 20 to 25-minute hike up to the crater, to explore three scenic lookouts offering views into the crater from different angles. From there, you can see El Boqueroncito, a smaller crater in the center (approximately 37 meters), as well as the hillsides where locals grow fruit and flowers in this temperate climate.
Visitors will also find beautiful overlooks, restaurants, and cafés with spectacular views of San Salvador, Ilopango Lake and Chinchontepec Volcano. Pause for a hot cup of coffee, fresh fruit juice, or a fine glass of wine with the wide culinary offerings around the park.
The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The entrance fee is $1 for Salvadorans and $2 for foreigners.
Children under the age of 6 and adults over 60 get in free.
