San Miguel Oeste
Chinameca, whose name means windbreaking hedge or fence, officially became a city in 1874. Today it comprises twenty cantones and 36 caserios.
Chinameca celebrates annually from August 1 to 6 for its patron saint festivities in honor of the Divino Salvador del Mundo.
Experience natural wonders in this area. Just five kilometers from Chinameca center is Cerro el Pacayal, with a broad, dry lagoon whose active fumaroles are fascinating on the northern slope. Once part of a geothermal exploration project, this hill offers visitors excellent views of Chinameca volcano.
