La Libertad Sur
Looking for a 360-degree view of the mountains and the coast? Peñón de Comasagua is your answer.
Your trek to the massive boulder at the summit takes you on a journey through nature and local history, culminating in spectacular panoramic views that stretch in one direction to the ocean and in the other across the Salvadoran mountains.
The hike to the summit is 1.5 kilometers of moderate difficulty (3/10). Stone steps are carved into the path leading to the boulder, but the exposed summit creates a thrilling final challenge.
Once you reach the top, you'll know your efforts were worthwhile, as you absorb the dramatic scenery and vibrant colors, especially at sunrise or sunset.
Bring comfortable clothes, a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water. There is no entrance fee, and local guides will be happy to offer their services.
