The scenic beauty of the mountains, its crystal clear waters and cool climate is the perfect mix that the Apaneca Lagoon offers you.
Known as Laguna Verde, this lagoon belongs to the recent volcanic chain, on the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range, and is considered a high altitude wetland with distinctive and determining fauna; among them, the American fulica and podilymbus podiceps, species of aquatic birds that nest in this lagoon. There are 16 species of birds in the surrounding highlands, some of which are migratory therefore, it has been given the importance of a wetland.
