Shuchitoto is a small town but very enticing!
Starting with its Santa Lucia Church, an architectural jewel belonging to the colonial era. It dates from 1853 and among its characteristics is its facade with semicircular arches with beautiful moldings and an atrium of six ionic order columns.
This church is one of the most beautiful examples of ancient architecture in El Salvador. Its facade has two magnificent towers, on one rests the bell tower and on the other some metal bars that produce different sounds. In the center rests one of its greatest attractions: the old clock.
Like all period towns, this one also has a picturesque Central Park, or better known as Plaza Mayor, located in front of the church. This is still the meeting place of its inhabitants and a trading point where artisans offer their products in an improvised market full of colors, smells and flavors of the place.
If you are of age, you might want to taste Chicha a unique beverage traditional of Suchitoto. It is fresh and with a medium alcohol content that makes it unique.
