Conchagua Volcano

The Conchagua Volcano, known as “The Gulf Guardian” , from where you will appreciate one of the most beautiful views towards the islands of the Gulf of Fonseca, is located in the municipality of Conchagua in the department of La Unión, 207 kilometers from San Salvador CA-2 road.

From the cusp, located approximately 1,256 meters above sea level, you will see unique views of our neighboring countries of Honduras and Nicaragua, in addition to enjoying a fresh environment and in contact with nature, ideal for camping and having a restful rest .
The sunrise and sunsets offered by this place are majestic scenarios of the natural wealth that El Salvador offers to visitors and will make you live a unique experience in harmony with the environment.

In the area you will find the Protected Natural Area owned by the State, which houses a variety of Salvadoran wildlife such as white-tailed deer, tepezonte, raccoon, armadillo, mico cat, cat son, tacuazín, hurracas, parakeets and other bird species.

You can also do activities such as hiking, bird watching. It has cabins for a well-deserved rest.
For adventure lovers, the volcano can be climbed walking, about two and a half hours, otherwise you will need a 4×4 vehicle or take the service offered by tour operators in the area.
When you get off the volcano, you can visit the oldest colonial church in El Salvador built in 1693, located in a town full of customs and traditions, with a pupusodrome where you can enjoy the pupusas (typical savior of El Salvador) and a pleasant climate.
