geo West zone: Ahuachapán

Ahuachapán, located to the west of El Salvador, has unique destinations where visitors can luxuriate a cup of strict height coffee, and learn about the traditions of people.

One of the main attractions is the Parroquia de La Asunción, considered an architectural jewel, due to its colonial-style architecture that is more than 100 years old. Every year, Lantern Day is celebrated in honor of its patron saint, a prelude to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, where the main streets of the city and other surrounding municipalities are decorated with handmade lanterns.

You can also visit Pasaje La Concordia, a pedestrian area decorated with colorful murals, emblematic sites full of history such as the monument to the family in La Concordia Park and the Francisco Menéndez Park where stands the monument to General Francisco Morazán, a former President of the Republic of El Salvador.
