This municipality is seat of the department, located 34 kms. to the east of the capital city and at an altitude of 850 AMSL. Cojutepeque has a nice and fresh weather, therefore known as “City of Fog”. The products that identify Cojutepeque anywhere, are its famous sausages: “sausages, pepperoni, ‘butifarras’ and ‘longanizas’”; the fabrication of fireworks and hats, all by Cojutepeque-native hands.
Cerro Las Pavas. There you can find the Virgen de Fátima grotto, which is visited by many Catholics during May. It is a route favored by national and international tourists.
The festivities of Cojutepeque are from 18 to 25 January in honor of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and St. Sebastian Martyr.
